This rum is a combination of rums matured for five and six years in American oak barrels that formerly held Bourbon. Character alcohol produced by long, slow reduction of fermented honey sugar to a temperature of 40 degrees, made possible by water from Paraguayan springs close to the distillery. From 1865 until 1870, the Paraguayans fought against an alliance that included Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay; this rum is a tribute to the brave people of Piribebuy, the citadel of the Fortin distillery.
